Production Costing Modeler
The Production Costing Modeler is the technical lead for all analytical and modelling work within the TA program. The core of this role is evaluating the grid-level value of V2H/V2G 'use cases' using commercially available production costing tools to power system data. Working in close coordination withN ational Power Utility’s power system planning division (PSPD) and grid operations staff, the expert will model how a grid-scale V2H/V2G program would be scheduled and dispatched, compare multiple operating strategies, and project financial and technical benefits across rollout scenarios to 2040.
The role also involves building National Power Utility 's internal capacity to conduct similar analysis independently going forward.
Key Responsibilities
- Review the production cost modelling capability of National Power Utility for application to V2H/V2G use case analysis.
- Work with thestate enterprise power development planners and grid operators to characterize how an at-scale V2H/V2G programs would be scheduled and dispatched.
- Utilize available production costing models (e.g., PLEXOS, PyPSA or equivalent) and cost data provided by client to analyze and compare multiple “use cases” and dispatch strategies
- Recommend “use case” stacking strategies with high value to the grid
- Provide inputs to the team leader to assist in completing the deliverables.
Your Qualifications & Skills
- Master’s degree in engineering, economics or other relevant fields
Experience
Experience using commercially-available production costing models (PLEXOS, PROMOD, PyPSA) to analyze costs and benefits of grid support services including V2H/V2G
Familiarity with grid resiliency applications (frequency control, voltage support) of distributed energy resources, EV technology and EV grid integration potential.
Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience and 5 years of international experience.
English Language Proficiency
Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
